The DFSP offers a premium discount to eligible employers for implementing a loss-prevention strategy addressing workplace use and misuse of alcohol and other drugs, including prescription, over-the-counter, and illegal drug abuse within the context of a holistic safety program. DFSP is designed to more effectively prevent injuries and illness by integrating drug free into each company’s comprehensive safety management system. The DFSP replaced BWC’s Drug-Free Workplace Program (DFWP) and Drug-Free EZ Program (DF-EZ). The initial DFSP program year began July 1, 2010, for private employers. There is also a Jan. 1 program year for both public and private employers.
Drug Free Safety Program
Ohio law says all companies that bid or work on state construction jobs must have Drug Free Work Place programs-no matter how many employees they have. This applies to contractors and all levels of subcontractors who want to work a State of Ohio construction project or who want to bid on and eventually provide labor services and/or supervise workers on state construction sites. Supervisors must also get an additional hour of skill-building training before working on a state site. Even employers with no employees must have at least a drug-free program in place. We provide Drug Free Workplace Policies and Training for your supervisors and your employees.
